For the last blog I wanted to discuss the problems with the business of 7-Eleven. It has a problem with image. This image is one of dirty and slimmy. It needs to develop a public relations department. This will help the image of a dirty...always getting robbed type of feel. I think it would help to create a promotional type of public relations that will get the new image of 7-Eleven out to the public.

Communication has everything to do with a communication course. If one can not put ones thoughts on paper and articulate ones ideas one can not be an effective communicator. With Public Relations writing is very important. Press Releases, Fact Sheets, Informational Brochures are all apart of PR, but without effective writing skills these things can not be communicated. Emails, blogs, memos are things that we use on a daily basis to communicate and build relationships with people. Even right now my writing has gotten in the way of my point. If your mechanics are messed up people get too caught up in your problems rather than what your point is. You can have great ideas but if they can not be communicated clearly through writing the ideas can not be communicated. Writing has everything to do with communication.

The greatest problem my non-profit organization faces on a normal basis is the image to the community. The image some community members have of LaCasa is that they bus latino's from mexico to the area. It started with the creation of LaCasa, one because of the name, it is associated with spanish speaking people coming from mexico to steal jobs from the locals and LaCasa helps them do this. It deals with this problem by educating the public through billboards, articles and informational brochures.

Chapter 6 tackles ethics role in corporate decision making. Ethics play a big role in corporations decision making. Ethics, the book says is something we do, not something we have. Ethics is something that is brought out everyday and help attain values. These guidelines that are set by the corporation, are completely relate upon the values the corporations sets in place. The behaviors of the Organization are determined by the values. The CSR is set up to create an environment ath helps the organization to focus constantly on the importance of ethical behavior. CSR is done by periodic ethics audits, intergration of values into the four-step public relations process, and a system such as the Potter Box for analyzing ethical challenges when they do occur. The role ethics play in the PRSA is highly important. The PRSA is set up to assist individual communicators regarding specific ethical situations, and are ready to enforce any members who do not adhere to the ethical standards set up.

I would love to be apart of a non profit organization. Public relations are essential to the well being of a not for profit organization. A well run non profit has all the things that a corporation has except instead of stockholder relations they have donor relations. I would love to have a position as a representative to donor relations. You could spend quality time with all the donors, and go to parties and dinners. The PR firm I researched is located in Elkhart called, DA Marketing Solutions LLC and it is a full-service public relations and strategic marketing firm. Based near Indianapolis, the firm is experienced in representing companies in a broad range of industries, markets and professions. The owner of the firm is David Ayers, a trusted public relations/marketing communications counselor, whose experience spans more than 18 years. The firm's specialty areas include: manufacturing, education, health care, hospitality/tourism and corporate investigations.
